Psychiatric physician assistants have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

• Must know how to write SOAP notes
• Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria
• Knowledge of working in ESMR system and google suite applications
• Experience working with impoverished urban community
• Must be able to travel to both office locations
• Must have Suboxone Waiver
• Providing therapeutic interventions to patients in order to help them manage their mental health issues.
• Conducting assessments of patients’ physical and mental health needs in order to determine treatment plans.
• Providing counseling services to patients, including diagnosing and treating mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety disorders
• Discussing treatment options with patients in order to help them make informed decisions about their care.
• Prescribing medications to patients who need long-term treatment for mental illnesses such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
• Participating in group therapy sessions with patients who have similar issues.
• Performing routine diagnostic tests in order to identify possible causes of mental illness.
• Referring patients to other physicians or mental health specialists when appropriate
• Take medical histories, handle crisis response, administer medication, and medication injections, and direct mental health services.
• Serve as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individual and measurable treatment goals and modalities for each patient.
• Develop working relationships with physicians and providers that refer.
• Evaluate complaints of an acute and chronic nature
• Monitors changes in patients with persistent mental health
• Initiates and completes all relevant documentation within organizational time frames.
• Provides support, psychotherapy and supportive counseling with patients in regard to psychosocial, environmental and physical well being
• Performs related duties as directed.

Education :

Psychiatric physician assistants are required to have a master’s degree from a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Physician Assistants. These programs typically take two years.

• Board certification or eligibility.
• Licensed from an accredited PA School
• Valid and unrestricted license to practice.
• Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and experience in medication management.
• Proficiency in providing evidence-based psychotherapy interventions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, with a commitment to promoting their well-being and recovery.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage a diverse caseload.
• Adherence to ethical guidelines and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Contract 

Salary: $65.00 - $85.00 per hour

Healthcare setting:

• Outpatient

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Psychopharmacology: 1 year (Required)
• EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Certified Nurse Practitioner (Preferred)
• PA-C (Preferred)
• Physician Assistant License (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
